In the page 12, in the last paragraph, it says that there are the a8 fibres and C fibres, one deals with the localisation of pain while the other is responsible for the emotional aspect of pain. What is the distinct function of each fibres.I am not quite sure which one is which. Thank you! Delphine

Thank you for your question.
The Αδ fibres respond to quick and shallow pain (unpleasant feelings caused by cold and pressure, for example) and they do so in a quick manner because the fibres are myelinated. Whereas, the C fibres transmit in a slower fashion because they are non-myelinated. C fibres are responsible for transmitting longer lasting pain, such as burning.
